SafeGuard Secure

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

SafeGuard Secure does not collect, store, or share any personal data. This policy exists to be transparent about how the extension works.

What We Collect

Nothing. SafeGuard Secure does not collect any personal information, browsing history, or user data of any kind.

How the Extension Works

When you visit a website, SafeGuard checks the URL against third-party threat databases to determine if it is safe. This is done in real time and the URL is not stored or logged by us at any point.

The following third-party services are used for URL lookups:

Google Safe Browsing API — URLs are submitted to Google's Safe Browsing service for threat detection. Google's own privacy policy governs how they handle these requests. See policies.google.com/privacy.

PhishTank — URLs are checked against PhishTank's community phishing database. See phishtank.com/privacy.php.

Local Storage

SafeGuard stores the following data locally on your device only, using Chrome's built-in storage API:

• Your protection on/off preference
• A count of how many sites have been checked and blocked today

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, transfer, or share any user data with third parties. We do not use any data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's core function of protecting you from unsafe websites.

Children's Privacy

SafeGuard does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
